What is Sublimation?

Sublimation a digital printing technology using full color artwork that works with polyester and polymer-coated substrates. Also mentioned as digital sublimation, the method is usually used for decorating apparel, signs and banners, also as novelty items like telephone covers, plaques, coffee mugs, and other items with sublimation-friendly surfaces. the method uses the science of sublimation, during which heat and pressure are applied to a solid, turning it into a gas through an chemical reaction without passing through the liquid phase.

In sublimation printing, unique sublimation dyes are transferred to sheets of “transfer” paper via liquid gel ink through a piezoelectric print head. The ink is deposited on these high-release inkjet papers, which are used for subsequent step of the sublimation printing . After the digital design is printed onto sublimation transfer sheets, it’s placed on a heat press along side the substrate to be sublimated.

In order to transfer the image from the paper to the substrate, it requires a heat press process that’s a mixture of your time , temperature and pressure. the warmth press applies this special combination, which may change counting on the substrate, to “transfer” the sublimation dyes at the molecular level into the substrate. the foremost common dyes used for sublimation activate at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. However, a variety of 380 to 420 degrees Fahrenheit is generally recommended for optimal color.

The end results of the sublimation process may be a nearly permanent, high resolution, full color print. Because the dyes are infused into the substrate at the molecular level, instead of applied at a topical level (such like screen printing and direct to garment printing), the prints won’t crack, fade or peel from the substrate under normal conditions.

How Much Does a mug weight?

The major types of materials we used in making mugs are ceramic, porcelain, stoneware.

The weight of each type of coffee mug depends on its material and dimensions.

Porcelain is the most ubiquitous. Also referred to as China, it is less expensive than bone China, and with the right balance of price, durability, and weight, it is great for both daily use and formal occasions. It has a glazed, non-porous surface that makes it dishwasher-safe, microwavable, and sometimes oven-safe.

Stoneware is popular for its rustic and textured aesthetic. It is often off-white and ivory with speckles (rather than pure or bright white). Heavier, thicker, less durable, and more porous than bone China and porcelain, stoneware is relatively inexpensive. The unique pieces may not uniformly stack for storage, especially if they were handmade. (Earthenware is similar to stoneware in its organic design, but more prone to chipping.) Both are great options for daily use if you don’t mind the extra care required.

Weight is a crucial thing to notice when considering whether an item is stoneware vs. porcelain. Stoneware is usually heavier than porcelain, since the clay won’t to make it’s courser. If you have a stoneware tea cup and a porcelain tea cup on hand, you’ll notice the porcelain cup is lighter.

Stoneware is thicker than porcelain. In fact, many porcelain items are transparent. If you hold a bit of porcelain up to the sunshine, you’ll notice that the sunshine glows through the porcelain. However, if you lift a stoneware to the sunshine, the stoneware won’t glow. If you compare the thickness between porcelain and stoneware item. You will find stoneware item will be thicker.

So porcelain is more delicate than stoneware. Fine decorations, like you would possibly see in antique Victorian porcelain, really wouldn’t be possible in stoneware. It requires more skill from the potter to figure with porcelain, but this material also allows for more creative expression. search for delicate sculpted flowers, leaves, and other dimensional decorations.

Although porcelain is really stronger than stoneware and may be crafted into thinner pieces, stoneware tends to more durable than dinnerware. Stoneware item is everywhere, and it is common in our daily life, while fine dining items could also be porcelain. As you are looking at items in an antique shop, you’ll see stoneware item is very less.
